Friends of the Arboretum (FOA) is a nonprofit membership organization that supports the UW–Madison Arboretum’s work and mission. Since 1962, FOA has provided volunteer and financial support for community outreach and education. Membership in the Friends is a commitment to the principles and practice of ecological restoration.

  • NewsLeaf, our monthly member newsletter, which includes Arboretum news, articles about restoration and conservation, staff columns, calendar of events, and FOA announcements
  • Regional, national, and international trips organized by FOA and led by experts
  • Discounted registration for the popular Luncheon-Lectures series featuring noted speakers
  • Discounted registration for most Arboretum classes and paid educational events, including Earth Focus Day Camp
  • 10 percent discount at the annual Native Plant Sale and in the Arboretum Bookstore

Membership levels

Yearly membership contributions for individuals and families are available at several levels:

  • Member $40
  • Supporting Member $70 (member benefits + $5 bookstore certificate)
  • Sustaining Member $125 (member benefits + $5 bookstore certificate & special gift)
  • Legacy Member $300 (member benefits + $10 bookstore certificate & special gift)
  • Patron Member $1,000 (member benefits + $50 bookstore certificate & special gift)
  • Life Member $5,000 (member benefits + $75 bookstore certificate & special gift)

Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
