In November and December, acrylic paintings by Karen Watson-Newlin will be on view in the Steinhauer Trust Gallery.
“Seasonal Shifts: Colors and Textures” features Watson-Newlin’s acrylic paintings of seasonal Dane County and imaginary landscapes. Prairie plants are hardy survivors with deep roots in all types of extreme weather conditions. The flowers and grasses present visible dynamic changes through the seasons. The paintings communicate the natural strength using layers of paint applied by knives and brushes for textural quality and energy of the stroke. She uses paint to demonstrate the sensitivity of her interaction with nature.
