As fall color reaches its peak, the Arboretum will offer the popular Badger Trolley narrated tours on October 4, 11, and 18. On board, our naturalists share stories about plants, ecology, history, and geography along a sight-seeing route that includes Curtis Prairie, Longenecker Horticultural Gardens, Wingra and Gallistel Woods, the Lost City, Redwing and Gardner marshes, and the remaining buildings of the Civilian Conservation Corps camp. You’ll learn about the transformation and restoration of the land over almost 85 years. Badger Trolley tours also run for three Sundays in May during peak spring bloom.
To help keep these tours financially sustainable, the Arboretum will charge a nominal fee ($5, cash only; children 5 and under ride free). Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Visitor Center reception desk, beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the tour date. The 45-minute tours leave from the Visitor Center steps at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. (Space is limited; large tour groups cannot be accommodated. If you would like to arrange a private group tour, please see our Tours page.)
