The Arboretum’s paved roads may be used for running, cycling, and walking events – however, all events require a permit and may not interfere with the teaching, research, and public service mission of the Arboretum. Please read the full Arboretum athletic event policy (PDF) before applying for a permit.

Liability for any event-related incidents rests with the event organizers, who must arrange appropriate medical support.

Applications must be submitted 2 to 8 months in advance of the event. When you apply, you will be asked to upload the following to a secure folder:

• map of the course
• certificate of insurance
• first-aid plan
• a volunteer plan
• water stand locations
• portable toilet locations
